First, this comes with a thing to mount it on a gun and a the end cap of the light is also the cap to the battery compartment and this flashlight includes 2 of them. One regular and the other has a wire that leads to a push button that operates the light. I'm not hunter but I assume it's for convenience when the light is mounted on a gun.Second, the ad says it lights up 273 yards, that's 819 feet. This IS incredibly powerful as you can see by my first photo. I am standing about 500 feet from the corn in the field and you can see the corn is lit up red, but I don't think the light would light it up another 300 feet unless it was pitch black out. My second photo is at 100 feet and the next is at 10 feet.Third, it's just an overall great design. The USB port is hidden. You have to unscrew the body of the flashlight a bit and then the port is accessible. This is a really clever way to add extra protection to the port. It's almost like they actually put some thought in to the type of environment it's likely to be used in, a dirty one lol. I also appreciate that it's aluminum and very lightweight. It's small enough to fit easily in my pocket or it has a lanyard to slip on your wrist. This is important to me because I didn't get this flashlight to go hunting, I got it so I can walk my two dogs after dark. So the fact that it fits in my pocket frees up both hands and I can control both leashes. Or slip the lanyard over my wrist so I don't drop it if one of my dogs jerks the leash and knocks it out of my grip. And fourth, when I get to the field, I let them run. This field is 20 acres so they run really really far and I needed a flashlight that could reach far enough I can see them. This flashlight caught my eye because it said it won't mess with your night vision. I'm not trying to blind my dogs with a bright **** light when they are running full speed, right? And they are totally correct with this claim. I looked it up and dogs, deer, and hogs can't see red light brightly. AND, I waited till my eyes were adjusted to the night and then shined it directly in to my own eye (I don't recommend you do this, I'm almost positive it can't be good for your vision) but I don't do anything to my dogs I'm not willing to do to myself. I lived on Vegas for about a decade so I'm sure this isn't the first time I've been shot in the eye with an intense red light but it's definitely the first time I paid attention to the experience. It was weird. I could feel that sharp needle pain you get when you look into a bright white light and I got a temporary spot in my vision for a minute but I could immediately see everything else just as clearly as I did before I looked at the light. That's why it was weird, because normally if you are blinded by a light you can't see anything for a minute. So my point here is that it doesn't blind my dogs or me in the dark. Oh but I should point out that when I tested it on my own vision and saw a spot, I held it about 6 inches from my eyes and flipped it on. And I'll stress one more time, don't do this at home kids. Don't shine this or any other bright light in your eyes.Aaaaaaaaand fifth, it doesn't attract bugs!!!! I don't have to explain why that's a great feature. This flashlight is really great for night walks, stargazing, hunting, any nighttime activity. It's a great quality flashlight and a great value too. I fully expect about 5 years use out it but even if it only lasts 3 years it's only $0.60 a month.
