Frequently Asked Questions

Flashlights

1. How to choose our own flashlights?

We have three kinds of flashlights, long-range strong light flashlight, zoom strong light flashlight, and floodlight flashlight. The long-range strong light flashlight is suitable for the scene of exploration, search and rescue patrol; the zoom flashlight is more suitable for the scene of data review, equipment maintenance or photography fill light; the floodlight flashlight is more suitable for the scene of hiking and cycling.

3. Can I replace the LED?

No. The LEDs used in Ultrafire lights are soldered to electronic circuit boards and cannot be replaced.

5.  When should you change the light’s batteries?

The time to change the batteries will depend on various factors: the requirements, your personal preferences, and also how long the light is still going to be used.

In some circumstances it is advisable to take extra batteries with you and/or to put new batteries in before a long trip. As a general rule, batteries should be taken out if the light is not being used for a long time.

7. My LED flashlight does not turn on — What's wrong?

First install fresh batteries, positive-end forward. 95% of non-working SureFire flashlights are due to dead or reversed batteries.

If the flashlight does not turn on with fresh batteries installed, perform the "paper clip test" as follows: 1. With the new batteries still in the light, unscrew and remove the tailcap. 2. Using a metal object such as a paper clip or key, simultaneously touch the flat center of the exposed battery terminal and the rear metal rim of the flashlight; the flashlight should turn on.

If the flashlight does not turn on using the paper clip test with fresh batteries installed, the problem may be dirty or greasy tailcap threads. Refer to the question below, "What parts of my flashlight need to be maintained?", paying attention to the information on cleaning.

If the flashlight does turn on using the paper clip test with fresh batteries installed but it does not turn on with the tailcap installed, the problem may be dirty or greasy tailcap threads. Refer to the question below, "What parts of my flashlight need to be maintained?", paying attention to the information on cleaning.

If the flashlight does not turn on after cleaning the threads, it may be the tailcap switch, although failures of our simple "tactical" switches are extremely rare. At this point, please contact Ultrafire Customer Service.

9. How many bulbs does it have?

It has NO bulbs. this is an LED flashlight. like almost every light on the market today. bulbs are a thing of the past.

2. My flashlight is difficult to focus – what should I do?

1.The head of your light is comprised of two different parts. The purely cylindrical part with the reflector lens and the Rapid Focus carriage which tapers off into a tube. In some newer models the cylindrical part is silver.

2.Unscrew the cylinder from the Rapid Focus carriage in anticlockwise direction.

3.Please note that you should NEVER TOUCH THE LED.

4.Remove the Rapid Focus carriage from the light downward. Now you can properly clean all of the parts from the inside with a damp or dry cloth. You can treat the O-ring which can now be seen on the light compartment with silicon-free grease.

5. Then re-close the head of the light by again pulling up the Rapid Focus carriage and screwing it back together with the cylindrical part. In all models with a Focus Lock function you have to pay particular attention to one thing when pulling up the carriage. The grooves on the inside of the carriage have to slide exactly along the tracks that are intended for that purpose.

4. Why are the lights in Ultrafire different colors?

You have several lights from Ultrafire and the color of the light in the last one is slightly different to the others?

That is perfectly normal with LEDs. When they are made they are doped like computer chips and then coated with a conversion layer. This converts part of the blue light created by the chip into yellow light. The combination of the two colors is what creates white light. Like in any technical process there is a certain amount of variation. For LEDs, this is called binning.

This binning also pertains to the color of the light, so there are relatively large differences between different chips – even if the chip type is the same.

6. Are Ultrafire flashlights waterproof?

We consider our flashlights to be extremely water resistant but we don’t advertise them to be waterproof.

8. Can I use rechargeable batteries with this?

Yes.

10. How many lumens does this flashlight put out?

This depends on which type of LED bulb we use, for example XPE LED bulb, max 250 Lumens, 1 XM-L2 LED bulb, max 800-900 Lumens, XP-V6LED bulb is max1000 lumens.

Battery

1. What is the difference between a battery with a protective plate and without a protective plate?

We use high-quality birchwood as the raw material and follow a strict production and testing process so that our products can be toughest as possible.

3. Do I need to charge it before using it?

Please use it first. When the flashlight is dark, charge it for 4 hours before using it. Lithium batteries are most afraid of over-discharge, so please develop the habit of charging normally.

5. Can I use my other band charger? or must use your charger?

Yes you can use your charger. These batteries are NI-MH.

2. How to distinguish a battery with a protective plate and a battery without a protective plate?

The difference is as follows: 1. The height of the battery without the plate is 65mm, and the battery with the protective plate is 69-71mm.

2. Discharge to 20V, if the battery will not discharge when it reaches 2.4V, it means there is a protective plate.

3. Touch the positive and negative electrodes. If the battery has no response after 10 seconds, it means that it has a protective plate. If the battery is hot, it means that there is no protective plate (This test, not a professional. Do not experiment like this because it is possible cause a powerful explosion and cause irreversible personal harm, especially if you encounter inferior batteries)

4.What is lithium battery overdischarge?

If the brightness is obviously reduced and the battery is still used, the battery will be damaged. Even after a professional activation, the power will be significantly reduced. Therefore, please pay attention to the maintenance of the battery and charge more frequently.

6. Where are these batteries made?

UltraFire's batteries are made in China

7. How long does a charge last?

It will all depend on what device you are powering. As the previous user stated, they last pretty long in a low-drain situation such as his solar lights

9. xxx

Please use it first. When the flashlight is dark, charge it for 4 hours before using it. Lithium batteries are most afraid of over-discharge, so please develop the habit of charging normally.

8. Do these batteries come already charged?

They arrive approximately 80% pre-charged

10.xx

If the brightness is obviously reduced and the battery is still used, the battery will be damaged. Even after a professional activation, the power will be significantly reduced. Therefore, please pay attention to the maintenance of the battery and charge more frequently.
